Due to the Covid pandemic starting in 2020, my classmate and I decided to deal more deeply with epidemiological models and contribute a report to our Seminar on Analysis and Control of Physiological Systems of the Institute for Electrical Engineering in Medicine.
In that report, we looked closely at epidemiological compartmental models, particularly the SIR and SIRS models, their possibilities and limitations. We investigated different scenarios like social distancing and vaccination and came to the conclusion that both intervention methods present appropriate measures to delay the spread of an infectious disease.
